The aim of the course is to give students the basic notions about urban planning in relation of architectural scale and implementations; develop awareness about the importance of Interactions between two professions. For the construction of better physical environments multi professional team working and an open vision about different scales are crucial. In this context architecture and urban planning have so much in common as well as the differences. Their productions in different scales define the physical environments as a whole. Realizing the aspects of city design is important for architecture students for their idea / concept development processes for creating a consistent design in relation of larger living environments.
-
The Course offers students both theoretical and practical knowledge about city design. History of urban planning and city design, development of new approached and basic concepts of site research will be narrated in theoretical lectures. For the last 5 weeks students will be asked to exercise on real sites, for experiencing the basic site research methods. (Students can choose a site close to their houses so that they will have the advantage of knowing the site’s problems and potentials in advance; and also they can collect information or make observations easier).
