İİnsan hareketliliği, hem Avrupa'nın hem de Dünya'nın çağdaş siyasetinde en çok tartışılan konulardan biri haline geldi. Çeşitli yönleri arasında göçmenlerin entegrasyonu ve medyanın bu süreçte oynadığı rol akademik hayatta dikkat çekmektedir. Bu ufuk açıcı kurs, göç, göçmen entegrasyonu ve medyanın entegrasyon sürecindeki rolü konusundaki temel bilimsel tartışmaları derinlemesine incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır.

Ders iki bölümden oluşmaktadır. Birinci bölüm, göç araştırmalarındaki temel tanımlara ve göçün teorik açıklamalarına, göç çalışmalarına temel yaklaşımlara odaklanmaktadır. Ayrıca Avrupa'nın 1945'ten bu yana göçle ilgili deneyimini, göç siyasetini ve “Avrupa Kalesi” tartışmalarını tartışıyor. İkinci bölüm ise Avrupa düzeyinde göçmen/mültecilerin medyada yer almasına odaklanmaktadır. Ayrıca medyadaki mülteci/göçmen imajının davetsiz misafir olarak mı yoksa olumlu bir gelişme olarak mı sunulduğunu tartışıyor. Sosyal medya gibi yeni medyanın göçmen entegrasyonunda oynadığı rol de incelenmektedir.
